Schwin bicycle tires?

Hello People! I just purchased an antique Schwin bicycle from somebody I know. It’s tires are dry-rotted so I checked out the measurment which is 20 X 1.75. I went to Wal-Mart and got some 20 X 1.75 tires. They do not fit! It seems that the Schwin tires are almost 1 inch in diameter larger! Do I have to get Schwin tires? Does Schwin make their tires like that so you have to buy theirs? Is their any other way to go with this?
